Spanish fitness equipment manufacturer Bodytone has announced the appointment of Roberto Ronzani as its new Head of International Sales. The executive move comes as part of a broader commercial strategy to reinforce Bodytone’s global brand presence, optimize its distribution network, and accelerate penetration into high-growth target markets, with Germany identified as a primary focus.
Strategic Priorities and German Expansion
In his new position, Ronzani will lead international sales strategy development, work to strengthen partnerships across global markets, and spearhead market entry initiatives.
Germany represents a key pillar of Bodytone’s immediate European expansion plan. To capture market share, the company is intensifying its collaboration with local commercial partner FitLink. According to Bodytone’s official statement, the partnership will establish a comprehensive support mechanism for German gym operators—spanning preliminary needs analysis, custom equipment selection, and long-term post-sale technical support.
“Germany is a market with vast potential, but it also carries exceptionally high expectations regarding technical advice, operational profitability, and ongoing service,” said Ronzani. “Our strategy centers on delivering customized equipment solutions tailored precisely to each facility’s business model, floor space, and member profile.”
Ronzani brings extensive expertise in international trade, distribution logistics, and operational leadership to the role. For the past six years, he served as General Manager at ITALIAROMA, following prior executive management roles in the food and beverage industry.
Corporate Background: Brand Evolution and Restructuring
Headquartered in Murcia, Spain, Bodytone has grown into an international brand in professional health and wellness equipment. Over its history, the company has designed, manufactured, and distributed professional fitness equipment across more than 80 countries, supplying over 3,000 commercial fitness facilities worldwide.
The executive appointment follows significant changes in Bodytone’s corporate governance and ownership structure in recent years
• Founding & Early Growth: Established by entrepreneurs Joaquín Marín and Jerónimo Domínguez, Bodytone expanded its portfolio from localized strength machinery to comprehensive cardio, strength, and digital fitness solutions.
• Corporate Ownership Shift (2021–2023): In 2021, UK retail giant JD Sports Fashion plc acquired a 50.1% majority stake in Bodytone through its Iberian Sports Retail Group (ISRG), integrating Bodytone into its international sports retail umbrella.
• Return to Independent Control (2024): In early 2024, founders Joaquín Marín and Jerónimo Domínguez repurchased the 50.1% majority stake back from JD Sports/ISRG. The transaction restored 100% ownership to the original founders, inaugurating a renewed phase of independent management focused on technological innovation, product agility, and targeted international expansion.
The onboarding of Ronzani signals Bodytone’s commitment to executing its post-buyback global growth strategy, leveraging its independent operational model to rapidly scale footprint across key European and international markets.
