Landmark Regulatory Approval in France
In a significant development, Basic-Fit has received confirmation from French public authorities permitting the operation of certain gyms on a 24/7 unstaffed basis. This approval follows the revised amendment to Article PE 27-1 of French labor regulations.
Under this regulatory framework, approximately 200 of Basic-Fit’s French clubs will immediately qualify for 24/7 unstaffed operations. Beginning May 2026, Basic-Fit will transition 50 staffed French clubs to this model, with the remainder expected to follow subsequently. This initiative will enable Basic-Fit to achieve 24/7 access across its 335 French clubs, significantly enhancing convenience for members.
The unstaffed nighttime model leverages advanced access technology, allowing members to use club facilities securely during overnight hours without on-site personnel, while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
“Q1 2026 represents an outstanding start to the year, demonstrating the strength of our business model and the growing demand for affordable fitness across Europe,” said a Basic-Fit spokesperson. “The approval to operate 24/7 unstaffed clubs in France marks a transformative step for our operations, enabling us to further improve member access while optimizing our cost structure.”
Outlook
Based on strong Q1 performance and positive market momentum, Basic-Fit has raised its 2026 full-year EBITDA guidance by €10 million to €415–455 million. The company maintains its revenue guidance of €1.64–1.69 billion for the full year.
