What’s New
From May 21 to 24, 2026, the 43rd China International Sporting Goods Show (China Sport Show) will be held at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. A significant update for this edition is the official launch of the “Asia Pacific Fitness & Wellness Show (APFIT)”—an upgraded evolution of the original fitness exhibition zone.
Explaining the rationale behind the upgrade, the show organizer told FitGearSource that technological innovation is now pivotal in breaking down barriers between commercial and home fitness scenarios, driving the industry towards comprehensive, personalized, and intelligent fitness solutions.
This trend has rendered the previous segmentation of exhibition zones inadequate for accurately reflecting the current state of industry convergence and market demands. Consequently, a new platform showcasing an integrated health and wellness ecosystem—designed to cater to diverse spaces, demographics, and health goals—has been introduced.
A New Strategic Focus
The China Sports Show will maintain its three main exhibition sectors: the APFIT zone (formerly the fitness zone), the Sports Venue, Facility & Equipment zone, and the Sports Consumption & Services zone.
As the standout feature, APFIT adopts the annual theme “Comprehensive Convergence, Shaping a New Future for Fitness and Wellness.” Departing from the simplistic “commercial” vs. “home” categorization, the new zone’s curation is structured around the “end-user decision-making journey.”
This logical pathway guides visitors from “Identifying Suitable Fitness Modalities” to “Choosing Workout Venues,” then exploring “New Pathways to Enhanced Fitness Experience,” and finally completing the loop with supporting services. The aim is to offer a more coherent and engaging visitor experience.

Scale and Structure
The APFIT zone has already attracted nearly 1,100 domestic and international exhibitors, with booked exhibition space approaching 130,000 square meters—setting a new record in the history of the China Sports Show.
The zone is organized into five core segments: Professional Fitness & Bodybuilding, Athletic Performance Assessment, Lightweight & Accessible Fitness, Sports Rehabilitation & Wellness, and Fitness Equipment Supply Chain, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire industry ecosystem.
This structure allows visitors to explore not only finished products but also the entire value chain—from raw materials and components to smart systems and service solutions—truly offering a “one-stop” platform for gaining insights into industry advancements.
Platform Strengths
Compared to other regional fitness exhibitions worldwide, APFIT, leveraging the national-level platform of the China Sports Show, demonstrates two core strengths.
First is its unique “integrated expo within an expo” ecosystem layout. It deeply converges resources from policy, industry, capital, and consumer ends, offering exhibitors opportunities for extensive exposure and cross-sector collaboration that go far beyond mere product display.
Second is its precise positioning for the Asia-Pacific region. It is keenly aligned with regional market demands and growth trends, aiming to build differentiated competitiveness, establish a premier industry exchange platform, and fill the market gap for a top-tier professional fitness and wellness exhibition in the Asia-Pacific.
Events and Synergies
The impact of a premier exhibition extends far beyond booth size and visitor numbers. APFIT is committed to building a holistic activity framework integrating “Industry Exchange, Professional Competitions, Interactive Experiences, and Business Matchmaking.”

A flagship event is the “APFIT Industry Summit 2026,” which the organizer aims to establish as the “bellwether” and thought leadership platform for the Asia-Pacific fitness industry. The summit will convene regional industry leaders and international experts to share insights and foster collaboration on regional industry standards.
Discussions will focus on interpreting global and Asia-Pacific macro-trends, releasing authoritative industry reports, and exploring emerging sectors like smart fitness, sports nutrition, and senior fitness. Notably, two fitness equipment industry giants, Johnson Health Tech and Shuhua Sports, have been confirmed as official partners of the APFIT Summit.
Additionally, events like the Asia-Pacific Bodybuilding Championships will be held concurrently, adding further dimensions to the exhibition.
Strategic Context
The launch of APFIT signifies more than a simple rebranding; it reflects the broader globalization efforts of China’s sporting goods industry. In fact, over the past two years, the China Sports Show has initiated pilot “overseas expansion” projects.
In 2024 and 2025, the show successfully organized overseas editions in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2025, it further expanded to the UAE, gathering numerous Chinese sports manufacturing and brand enterprises.
These overseas events have not only promoted products but also adapted the China Sports Show’s operational model and service standards to local markets. They serve as “intermediary hubs” connecting Chinese manufacturing with international demand, creating “express channels” for domestic companies to reach global buyers.

My Perspective
For the industry, the establishment of APFIT is far from a mere name change. Its profound implication lies in redefining the landscape of the fitness industry in China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
China is already the global manufacturing center for fitness products, especially equipment, with mature industrial clusters in cities like Qingdao, Dezhou, Nantong, Ningbo, Jinhua, and Xiamen. Presenting these enterprises with shared industrial DNA as an upgraded, consolidated group significantly enhances recognition efficiency for international buyers and partners.
More importantly, on the consumer market front, Chinese consumption patterns, product design, and business models are continuously influencing the Asia-Pacific market. The”going aboard” wave of “Designed in China” and “Brands from China” requires a robust regional platform as its lever.
APFIT’s “Asia-Pacific” positioning indicates its future role will not be limited to serving Chinese enterprises. It aims to actively attract exhibitors and businesses from across the region, evolving into a core hub that fosters intra-regional exchange, collaboration, and trade, thereby solidifying its influence as a regional leader.
On a deeper level, this move represents the China Sports Show’s proactive adaptation within the context of national strategies like the Belt and Road Initiative and corporate globalization. It is transitioning from a domestically-focused trade show of the past into a regional, and potentially global, industrial service platform.
Of course, the path of “overseas expansion” and platform upgrading is not without challenges. It requires continuous experimentation amid external uncertainties, timely calibration based on market feedback, and ultimately, pioneering new models for how China’s exhibition industry can serve industrial globalization. The debut of APFIT is a crucial step on this ambitious journey.
When the sea breeze of Xiamen once again rustles the flags at the exhibition center, what will be on display is no longer just cold steel machinery, but the ambition and blueprint for a regional fitness industry in transformative ascent.
