The European Commission Safety Gate warning system has issued an urgent product recall notice (Alert SR/02318/26) for select batches of Ocun CONDOR HMS Triple Carabiners used in rock climbing and mountaineering. The recall notice was initiated by the United Kingdom (in respect of Northern Ireland) with official enforcement actions taken in Ireland.
Safety Hazard & Non-Compliance
According to official safety reports, the lock gate of the carabiner can malfunction, causing it to fail to close automatically. If the gate remains unlatched during use, there is a heightened risk of unintended rope detachment, which could result in a severe fall from height and potential life-threatening injuries.
The affected product fails to satisfy the mandatory health and safety standards established by the European Union Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation.
