On March 20, Perplexity announced the launch of Perplexity Health, a set of interface tools that “connect personal health data,” allowing its AI to access users’ health information and answer medical-related questions based on this data.
When users ask health-related questions, Perplexity Health can provide answers based on medical records, lab results, and wearable device data. Combined with Perplexity’s AI agent Perplexity Computer, the AI can use users’ health information to develop personalized fitness plans, nutrition programs, and more. Perplexity Health on Computer will first launch for Pro and Max users in the United States.
Perplexity states that Perplexity Health’s answers are sourced from “high-quality medical literature,” including clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed journals. The company has also established a Perplexity Health Advisory Board comprising physicians, researchers, and health technology experts who will “stress-test product decisions, content quality, and clinical safety assurances against evidence-based medical standards.”
Additionally, Perplexity Health supports connection to Apple Health, allowing it to integrate data collected by Apple Watch and added to the Apple Health app. Beyond that, it also supports Fitbit, Ultrahuman, and Withings, as well as electronic health records from over 1.7 million healthcare providers, with plans to add Oura and Function in the future.
Perplexity assures that all health data is encrypted, the company maintains strict access controls, and provides tools for users to manage or delete information at any time. Health information will not be used to train AI models nor sold to third parties.
According to Fitgearsource, Perplexity is the second AI company after OpenAI to integrate with Apple Health. OpenAI launched ChatGPT Health with Apple Health support in early 2026.
