UK Pulse Fitness, a leading British gym equipment manufacturer, has officially announced an ambitious long-term growth roadmap, targeting £100m ($130m) in annual turnover by its 50th anniversary in 2030. The strategic expansion plan follows anchor investor Mo Chaudry increasing his stake in the Congleton-based business from 51% to 80%.
Strategic International Expansion Driving £100m Revenue Goal
According to official projections, the Pulse Fitness wider group expects turnover to reach £42m this year (2026). With Chaudry’s increased shareholding and strategic backing, international exports are poised to serve as the key engine for the company’s next phase of growth. Pulse Fitness currently operates in 71 countries across six continents and supplies over 2,700 UK fitness sites. Over the past three years, exports accounted for 19% of total sales; the company now plans to surge this figure to 70% within the next four years. As it approaches its 2030 milestone, Pulse Fitness is prioritizing overseas expansion across key markets including the United States, France, Portugal, and India.
Commenting on his increased investment, Mo Chaudry, Chair of Pulse Fitness, said: “I first invested in Pulse in 2018 and have now increased my stake in the company further because I can see first-hand the huge global growth potential Pulse has, particularly in the USA and India. Globally we are seeing ageing populations, rising obesity and increasingly sedentary lifestyles. The world doesn’t have a shortage of fitness equipment, but what it does have is a shortage of movement. Pulse has spent 45 years building expertise and we now have the opportunity to take that British innovation and grow it further internationally, to help more people become active.”
Chris Johnson, co-founder of Pulse Fitness, stated that selling a further shareholding to Chaudry was about giving Pulse the strongest possible platform for its next stage of development, highlighting that Chaudry brings ambition, investment, a proven track record across health, fitness, property, and leisure, as well as clear strategic direction.
Strategic Investor Profile: Prominent British Leisure Tycoon & Investment Portfolio
The driving force behind this major buyout, Mo Chaudry, is one of the UK’s most prominent entrepreneurs and high-net-worth investors. Through his family office investment arm, M Group (M Investment Group), his business footprint spans health and fitness, commercial property, leisure, and venture finance, with personal and asset valuations exceeding £170 million.
Chaudry boasts a distinguished commercial track record across the UK leisure sector:
Fitness & Leisure Footprint: In addition to controlling Pulse Fitness, Chaudry is the founder and owner of the acclaimed M Club Spa & Fitness brand, a premier health club chain in Staffordshire, UK.
Turnaround Success Story: In 1999, Chaudry acquired Waterworld—a loss-making waterpark in Stoke-on-Trent—and transformed it into one of the UK’s flagship waterpark attractions. Following decades of continuous capital investment and operational restructuring, the business was successfully sold in 2025 to the European leisure operator Looping Group in a landmark sector exit.
Capital & Social Influence: Having built his initial capital through financial services and real estate, Chaudry gained widespread public recognition following his appearance on Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire. He remains heavily invested in physical industries, specializing in scaling growth-stage enterprises through operational restructuring and strategic investment.
Forty-Year Heritage: Engineering Custom Fitness Solutions Globally
Founded in 1980 by engineer brothers Chris and Dave Johnson, Pulse Fitness originated in a converted disused milk parlour after the founders engineered their own proprietary piece of gym equipment. Over four decades, the business has grown into a global full-service fitness solutions provider:
Product Portfolio & Innovation: Pulse has designed, developed, and installed over 41,000 pieces of fitness equipment worldwide, seamlessly integrated with its proprietary TRAKK digital fitness app to support users across all ages, fitness levels, and mobility requirements.
Diversified Business Lines: Beyond equipment R&D and manufacturing, the wider group owns and operates seven UK fitness clubs alongside a dedicated leisure construction design-and-build division.
Public Sector Partnerships & Global Presence: Pulse is a long-standing supplier of gym equipment and servicing to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), having recently renewed a major four-year contract. The company operates a dedicated US headquarters opened last year, maintains a strong presence in France, and employs over 300 staff globally.
