Trek is recalling about 74,800 kids’ bikes and cruisers in North America due to a potential issue with the coaster brakes that could fail to engage. This defect may cause riders to lose control and crash. As of November 10, 2025, no incidents or injuries have been reported in the U.S. or Canada. Consumers who bought the affected bikes or replacement rear wheels are urged to contact an authorized Trek or Electra dealer for a free repair.

The recall covers approximately 68,000 bikes sold in the U.S. and 6,820 in Canada. These bikes were sold at authorized Trek and Electra retailers, both in stores and online, as well as on Trek.com, from August 2023 to September 2025. The bikes and replacement wheels were priced between $300 and $660, and $66 and $77, respectively.

The recall involves specific Trek and Electra models with coaster brakes and replacement rear wheels. The bikes come in various colors such as red, flamingo pink, dark aquatic, Mulsanne blue, volt yellow, pink frosting, Miami green, lithium gray, viper red, purple abyss, buttercup, pixie blue, and blue. To check if a bike or replacement rear wheel is part of the recall, enter the bike’s serial number (starting with “WTU” and located under the bottom bracket between the pedals) into the look-up tool on Trek’s website.
