MAY 20, 2026 — AUSTRALIA — The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued an urgent updated safety advisory warning all owners of Far Infrared s supplied by Found Space Trading Pty Ltd to stop using the product immediately due to serious fire hazards. The original recall was first announced in July 2024; however, the supplier has since ceased operations and entered liquidation, leaving customers unable to obtain repairs, replacements, or refunds.

Fire Hazard Identified

The heating system in the affected saunas contains two components that may ignite:

Defective heating elements
Ceramic electrical connectors with insufficient ventilation
Both issues can lead to overheating and fire. The ACCC confirms that actual fires resulting in property damage have already occurred, placing users at risk of serious injury, death, and significant property loss.

Affected Products & Brands

The recall covers free-standing, prefabricated Far Infrared Saunas sold under multiple brand names including iHealth Saunas, Found–Space, and Vortex, in capacities ranging from 1 to 4 persons and across Standard, Deluxe, Premium, and Lite model grades. Units were retailed through Found Space, iHealth Saunas, and Spa World.

Critical Situation: Supplier Defunct

Found Space Trading Pty Ltd has ceased trading and entered liquidation, meaning the company cannot provide any remedy — no repairs, replacement parts, replacements, or refunds.

What Consumers Must Do Immediately:

  1. STOP using the sauna immediately.
  2. Dispose of the product in accordance with local regulations.
  3. Do NOT donate, resell, or give away the sauna. The hazard remains regardless of ownership transfer.
  4. Purchased from another retailer? You may still have rights to a remedy (refund or defect-free replacement) under Australian Consumer Law consumer
  5. guarantees. Contact the retailer directly to pursue your claim.

Industry Implications

This case highlights a critical gap in product safety accountability: when an importer or supplier enters liquidation, consumers may be left with dangerous products and no path to redress. The ACCC advises that where a retailer, not the manufacturer, sold the item, statutory consumer guarantees remain enforceable against that retailer regardless of the supplier’s status. Industry observers recommend that buyers of large electrical wellness and fitness equipment verify robust after-sales support and product liability coverage at the time of purchase.
