Ladder, a strength-training app that was recently named a finalist for Apple’s 2025 iPhone App of the Year, has partnered with Flex to enable members to use Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds to pay for its memberships.

This partnership means that Ladder’s weekly training programs, coaching features, and nutrition-tracking tools are now eligible for pre-tax spending through Flex’s HSA/FSA payment system, potentially saving consumers up to 30–40%.

“The future of health spending is proactive,” said Flex co-founder and CEO Sam O’Keefe. “For many people, fitness is not just about performance; it’s about maintaining long-term health. By making Ladder eligible for HSA and FSA spending, we’re helping more people invest in their well-being in a way that is both affordable and sustainable.”

Flex is a company that manages compliance, letters of medical necessity, and checkout processing for brands in the health and wellness sector. Earlier this fall, Flex raised $15 million in Series A funding, bringing its total capital raised to $18 million.

“At Ladder, we believe that consistency is key to achieving health and fitness goals,” said Ladder CEO Greg Stewart. “Ladder offers personalized, progressive workout plans that are usually only available through expensive personal training, along with a supportive community to keep members motivated. We’re excited to make Ladder more accessible through our HSA/FSA partnership with Flex.”

Ladder is one of a growing number of brands that have partnered with Flex. Other brands include Dermstore, Therabody, Omnilux, NordicTrack, Balanced Body, and Alo Wellness.
