Functional training pioneer TRX announced a strategic licensing partnership with consumer products firm Blulabs to launch a full-scale mass-market retail line. 

Seeking to expand beyond its core commercial and military sectors, TRX will introduce branded fitness equipment, recovery tools, apparel, and accessories directly to brick-and-mortar retail stores. 

The agreement leverages Blulabs’ extensive network of over 25,000 retail doors, alongside its established manufacturing and supply chain capabilities. The upcoming product lineup features compact adjustable dumbbells, home Pilates kits, neoprene kettlebells, and advanced percussion massage devices. 

Backed by dedicated black-and-yellow in-store merchandising displays, the collection is scheduled to hit retail shelves in the fall of 2026, marking a significant push into everyday consumer home-fitness and recovery segments.

The international fitness community is paying tribute to Les Mills Snr, the four-time Olympian and founder of the Les Mills global fitness empire, who passed away on June 29, 2026, at the age of 91. 

Mills represented New Zealand in shot put and discus across four Olympic Games and won five Commonwealth Games medals before opening his first Auckland gym in 1968. ISPO Shanghai 2026, a key event of the Shanghai Sports Consumption Season, successfully concluded its run on July 5, 2026, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

Basic-Fit Strengthens German Footprint with €52 Million Acquisition of Wellyou 

Europe’s largest low-cost fitness operator, Basic-Fit, agreed to acquire 41 Wellyou clubs primarily located across northern Germany for €52 million. 

The strategic move expands Basic-Fit’s German portfolio from 74 to 115 wholly-owned facilities, instantly adding approximately 110,000 members. The purchase price reflects a 5.3 multiple of the 2025 club-level EBITDA, translating to roughly €1.27 million per club and €473 per member. 

Subject to standard regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close by the end of Q3 2026, after which all acquired sites will undergo a full brand transition to Basic-Fit. This inorganic expansion aligns with Basic-Fit’s targeted growth pillars, aiming to surpass a critical mass of 200 sites in Germany to optimize regional marketing investments and accelerate long-term membership conversion.

On Air Fitness Partners with Panatta for Premium Strength Equipment Rollout 

French fitness franchise On Air Fitness selected Italian manufacturer Panatta as its equipment partner to supply its largest facilities. Under the agreement, Panatta will provide a customized 12-machine circuit from its premium “Free Weight Special” line. 

On Air Fitness, which operates 113 clubs across France, Spain, Morocco, and Portugal with over 430,000 members, is recognized for combining workout performance with high-end design, music, and lifestyle elements. The collaboration unites two family-founded enterprises that prioritize biomechanical excellence and high-performance training. 

Dedicated Panatta-branded zones will be integrated within On Air’s flagship clubs, delivering a fully customized, 100% “Made in Italy” plate-loaded training experience designed to satisfy serious bodybuilding enthusiasts and elevate the standard of isotonic exercise across the chain’s European network.

China Fitness Equipment Patent Analysis Highlights Digital and Structural Innovation 

Patent data released for Chinese sports and fitness manufacturers in May 2026 revealed a dual-track innovation strategy combining hardware-software integration with precision structural upgrades. Intellectual property filings shifted significantly toward AI, IoT, and advanced motion-data analytics.

 EGYM Wellpass launched a strategic partnership with outdoor navigation and route-planning platform Komoot, granting its members free access to Komoot Premium starting in July 2026.
