Vam Investments has acquired six GetFit health clubs through Orange Palestre Italiane, taking the private equity-backed group to 33 locations in Italy and around 110,000 members.
The enlarged business has aggregated annual revenue of more than €55 million ($63 million, £47 million). No purchase price has been announced.
The acquisition strengthens Orange’s position in Milan and expands its offering across the mid-market and premium segments of the Italian health and fitness market.
GetFit operated eight clubs in Milan before the transaction. Corriere della Sera reports that its founders will retain the Via Piacenza and Via Pinerolo locations and reinvest in the holding company behind Orange Palestre Italiane.
This means the acquired portfolio comprises GetFit’s clubs in Via Piranesi, Via Ravizza, Via Giuseppe Meda, Viale Stelvio, Via Cenisio and Via Vico. The locations are confirmed by GetFit’s official eight-club directory.
The GetFit brand and its positioning will be retained, with the company saying continuity will be maintained for members.
The six acquired locations are full-service health clubs combining gyms, exercise studios and swimming pools with broader wellness and leisure amenities.
Facilities vary between clubs, but include 25m pools, saunas, steamrooms, hydrotherapy areas and thermariums. The Via Vico club also offers padel and squash courts.
Luca Sommaruga, CEO of Orange Palestre Italiane, said the group intends to preserve the identity and reputation GetFit has established during more than 40 years in the Italian fitness market.
GetFit began in Legnano in 1984 and opened its first Milan health club in Via Piacenza in 1996. Before the acquisition, it reported more than 35,000 active members across its eight Milan locations.
The transaction is the latest stage in Vam Investments’ strategy to consolidate Italy’s fragmented health club sector.
Vam launched the platform under the Gym Nation Italia name in November 2024, beginning with the acquisition of 10 Orange clubs and 11 clubs operated by Egosistema.
Orange had more than 45,000 members at the time, while Egosistema operated the Palestre Italiane and premium Prime brands and reported 26,000 members.
The platform has since been renamed Orange Palestre Italiane and expanded into a national group with operations in markets including Turin, Bologna, Milan, Rome and Palermo.
Vam says the group will integrate acquired operators through shared purchasing, marketing, technology and other central resources, while retaining the value of established brands.
The stated longer-term target is to grow Orange Palestre Italiane beyond 100 locations and establish it as Italy’s largest national health club operator.
