Following its initial global rollout in key North American and European markets earlier this year in May, Google officially expanded its hardware ecosystem on October 2nd by bringing its first screenless health tracker—the Fitbit Air—to India. The device is priced at ₹13,999 (approx. $145.30 USD, based on current exchange rates of 1 USD ≈ 96.3 INR).
Representing a strategic shift in Google’s wearable strategy, the Fitbit Air originally debuted in North America at an MSRP of $99.99 USD (approx. ₹9,629). The slightly higher price point in India reflects local import tariffs and region-specific retail distribution costs.

Minimalist Screenless Design: Built for Zero Distractions and Nighttime Comfort

The core concept behind the Fitbit Air is the complete removal of the traditional smartwatch display. The device consists solely of a lightweight, compact sensor unit (“Pebble”) paired with interchangeable straps.
Distraction-Free Experience: By omitting the screen, Google aims to free users from constant wrist notifications, emails, and app alerts. All metrics are collected discreetly in the background, allowing users to view complete health analytics whenever they choose via the companion Google Health App.
All-Day & Overnight Comfort: Significantly smaller and lighter than conventional smartwatches, the Fitbit Air excels at sleep tracking. Google is pitching a “dual-device strategy” for users in its ecosystem: wear a flagship Pixel Watch during the day for productivity, and switch to the ultra-comfortable Fitbit Air at night for seamless sleep monitoring.

Hardware & Software Ecosystem: Integrated Health Tracking Meets AI

Despite its minimal form factor, the Fitbit Air retains a robust array of health sensors:
Comprehensive Health Metrics: Features continuous heart rate monitoring, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and blood oxygen (SpO_2) sensors. It also supports irregular heart rhythm notifications (AFib) and detailed sleep stage analysis.
Battery Life & Fast Charging: Delivers up to 7 days of battery life on a single charge. Equipped with fast-charging technology, a quick 5-minute charge provides up to 24 hours of standard use.
Google Health Coach & Computer Vision: Powered by the Google Health Coach AI system, the tracker supports automatic activity detection. Additionally, it features computer vision capabilities—allowing users to log workout routines simply by snapping a photo of gym equipment or a whiteboard workout. Buyers receive a complimentary 3-month trial of Google Health Premium out of the box.

Colors, Accessories, and India Availability

The Fitbit Air comes in four base colorways: Obsidian, Berry, Lavender, and Fog. It ships standard with a eco-friendly Performance Loop band made from recycled materials. Optional accessories include the sweatproof Active Band (US MSRP $34.99 / approx. ₹3,369) and the dressier Elevated Modern Band (US MSRP $49.99 / approx. ₹4,814).
India Channels & Launch Promotions:
The Fitbit Air is available via the official Google Store, Flipkart, and major retail store chains including Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales. At launch, eligible HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank cardholders can claim a ₹1,000 cashback discount (approx. $10.40 USD), along with no-cost EMI financing options for up to 12 months.
