This week’s global fitness equipment and industry update highlights significant technological advancements, commercial expansions, and key strategic partnerships shaping the market. Tech giant Samsung has filed a U.S. patent for an AI-powered smart exoskeleton that actively modifies training resistance in real time, while Innodigym continues to push home strength bounds with its compact servo-motor platform, the OMNI X1 Pro. In industry events and retail expansion, the Health & Fitness Association (HFA) partnered with the Fitness Technology Summit for a unified 2027 global lineup, Reebok Strength launched a 550-square-meter B2B showroom in Argentina, and European retailer INTERSPORT extended its title partnership with HYROX through 2027. Meanwhile, basic-fit reported strong Q3 2026 growth, and Adidas-backed ATHX Games announced a major 2027 expansion across six U.S. cities.
1. Samsung Files U.S. Patent for AI-Driven Smart Exoskeleton
Samsung Electronics has filed a patent in the United States describing a wearable exoskeleton designed to analyze user movements and automatically modify assistance or resistance levels during workouts using artificial intelligence. The application (US 2026/0284465 A1), filed on May 27 and published on September 24, 2026, outlines a system that utilizes metrics such as execution speed, joint angles, and muscle signals to dynamically adapt force output.
Unlike traditional wearables that merely monitor performance metrics, this technology actively intervenes in physical training by adjusting torque in real time according to predefined user goals. While Samsung has not announced commercial production plans, the patent signals an ongoing effort to broaden its digital fitness ecosystem—complemented by its ongoing integration of iFIT’s AI personal trainer, Tailor, across compatible Galaxy devices and equipment lines like NordicTrack and ProForm.
2. Health & Fitness Association Partners with Fitness Technology Summit for 2027 Global Events
The Health & Fitness Association (HFA) and the Fitness Technology Summit (FTS), presented by AltaDX, have announced a strategic alliance aimed at unifying global fitness leadership, advocacy, and technology integration. Officially unveiled at The Fitness Technology Summit 2026 in National Harbor, Maryland, the partnership will establish major joint international events in 2027.
The cornerstone of the agreement is a unified European event: The Fitness Technology Summit / European Congress in Partnership with HFA, scheduled for May 25–26, 2027, in London. Combining HFA’s focus on policy advocacy and research with FTS’s expertise in AI and operational technology, the event will cater to European operators, investors, and tech providers. Additionally, FTS will curate three dedicated AI and technology educational sessions at The HFA Show 2027, taking place March 10–12, 2027, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
3. Reebok Strength Opens 550-Square-Meter B2B Showroom in Argentina
Reebok Strength—the commercial fitness line distributed in Latin America by Gadolex under license from Authentic Brands Group—officially opened a new professional B2B showroom in Córdoba, Argentina, on September 14, 2026. Spanning 550 square meters, the facility integrates commercial offices, product exhibition spaces, and logistics warehousing to serve corporate clients, commercial gyms, real estate developers, hotels, and healthcare institutions.
Located at Juan Jufré 3851 in the José Ignacio Díaz neighborhood, the center offers direct consultative services and holds over 30 fully assembled units available for client testing, alongside ready-to-ship inventory. Highlights include selectorized strength equipment from the flagship Euphoria series, power racks, benches, free weights, and specialized cardio machinery, allowing facility operators to evaluate biomechanics, build quality, and durability firsthand prior to acquisition.
4. INTERSPORT Extends European HYROX Title Partnership Through 2027
Retail giant INTERSPORT and global fitness racing series HYROX have extended their European title partnership through 2027. Building on their collaboration established in 2025, INTERSPORT will maintain title rights for events in Bordeaux, Hamburg, and Stockholm, while expanding its footprint to include six races in 2027 with the addition of Dublin, Vienna, and Maastricht.
As part of the current 2026 season schedule, the upcoming event in Hamburg—the original birthplace of HYROX—will run from October 28 to November 1, 2026. Following the 2025 Hamburg event that drew over 15,000 participants and 12,000 spectators, the 2026 activation includes local race-pack collection via retailer INTERSPORT Knudsen, a joint Wall-Ball Challenge with PUMA, and community run events.
5. Adidas-Backed ATHX Games Announces Major U.S. Expansion for 2027
Functional fitness brand ATHX Games has announced plans to expand into the United States in 2027, staging major fitness racing events across six cities: San Diego, Las Vegas, Denver, Nashville, New York, and Chicago. Backed by sportswear giant Adidas, the U.K.-founded organization expects to attract roughly 80,000 athletes across 45 worldwide events in over 18 countries throughout 2027.
The announcement comes ahead of ATHX’s inaugural World Finals in Lisbon, Portugal, scheduled for November 27–29, 2026. ATHX features a 2.5-hour format blending strength, endurance, and MetCon zones with built-in rest periods across three skill divisions (Lite, ATHX, and Pro). The expansion underscores a broader trend of growing competition in the fitness racing category, which has also seen recent market developments such as Xenom, a decathlon-style competition concept backed by Hyrox co-founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste.

7. Innodigym Introduces OMNI X1 Pro Servo-Motor Strength Platform
China-based equipment developer Innodigym has detailed the design and technical capabilities of its smart home strength system, the OMNI X1 Pro. Designed to replace traditional weight stacks and power racks with a space-efficient footprint suitable for apartment and home environments, the machine utilizes dual independent servo motors that deliver up to 264 pounds (120 kg) of digital resistance via a multi-angle cable system.
The unit’s digital load management allows users to engage specialized training modes, including eccentric, spring, standard, and isokinetic resistance settings. Software integrations feature digital workout tracking, post-session reporting, smart handle quick-release safety switches, and AI-driven form detection that automatically reduces resistance during unsafe lifts or fatigue. As part of a promotional campaign, Innodigym is featuring the OMNI X1 Pro for $2,573 during its Halloween seasonal sale running from October 16 to October 31, 2026.
