Escalade, Inc. has acquired the assets of ASL Solutions, a Ste. Marie, Illinois-based manufacturer specializing in insulated dog and cat houses and companion pet accessories.
The acquisition adds high-durability rotational molding (“rotomolding”) technology to Escalade’s domestic manufacturing capabilities, diversifying its outdoor, recreation, and active-lifestyle portfolio with a strategic entry into the fast-growing pet hardware sector. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Expanding Domestic Molding & Manufacturing Capabilities
ASL Solutions will integrate directly into Escalade’s US Weight Group portfolio, a division currently known for its fitness, weight training, and safety equipment offerings.
By adding ASL’s specialized rotational molding expertise to US Weight’s existing domestic injection and blow molding infrastructure, Escalade strengthens its supply chain resiliency, expands U.S.-based production capacity, and opens operational synergies across product lines.
“The addition of ASL’s rotational molding capabilities complements our existing injection and blow molding capabilities, expanding our domestic manufacturing platform and creating opportunities to leverage the strengths of our organization,” said Allison McDonald, General Manager of US Weight Group.
Strategic Adjacency: Sports, Fitness, & Pet Care
While best known for market-leading sporting goods and athletic brands—including Goalrilla basketball hoops, Bear Archery, Stiga table tennis, Brunswick Billiards, Onix pickleball, and Lifeline fitness gear—Escalade views the pet hard-goods market as a high-growth, natural adjacency to its active outdoor and family-oriented core.
Escalade plans to leverage its existing distribution networks, operational scale, and category reach to accelerate market penetration for ASL’s flagship product lines, including the Dog Palace, CRB Palace, RB Palace, and DP Hunter.
“ASL provides a meaningful entry point into the growing pet market, which is a natural adjacency to our sporting goods and recreation markets. This acquisition supports our strategy of pursuing complementary opportunities that can drive long-term value creation,” said Patrick Griffin, President & CEO of Escalade, Inc.
ASL Solutions founders Howard Atkison and Bob Guinn noted that joining Escalade marks a logical expansion for the brand after 25 years of independent innovation, positioning its heavy-duty pet housing lines for broader national scale within Escalade’s multi-brand ecosystem.
