Sportswear giant Nike has finally entered the fitness market with the launch of Nike Studios, dedicated to providing new fitness experiences for individuals and groups.
According to reports, Nike has partnered with FitLab, and the first physical stores will be located in West Hollywood and Newport Beach in Southern California, close to FitLab’s headquarters. The new Nike Studios will take over and reshape existing fitness club brands in order to quickly launch their own fitness services.
Nike claims that they will renovate clubs with Nike Grind Flooring, new lighting, and decor. They are likely to choose products from Assault Fitness for gym equipment.
Although business arrangements with other fitness club operators are still unclear according to Nike, they emphasize that “service prices will vary by location” and that “items purchased at Nike Studios cannot be returned to Nike stores.”
As a pre-sale offer, founder membership fees are $49 per month, early joiners can enjoy unlimited classes for only $99 per month along with a free gift bag containing limited edition Nike Studio T-shirt worth $25 USD, a $25 USD Nike gift card drawstring bag and water bottle.
After opening day, costs will double to $200 per month. Nike also plans on offering more flexible options including “audit courses and tiered pricing models.”
Nike’s two sub-brands -Nike Training Studios (NTS) and Running Studios (NRS)-will offer various classes including high-intensity interval training (HIIT) using weights kettlebells sleds sandbags strength training endurance training treadmills etc
The launch of NIke studios is another move after entering into live streaming market last year when it launched Netflix’s NTC & signed agreement w/ Strava. Retail outlets have been renamed as Well Collective
